The new iTunes update to 7.1 was thought to be a great success, and it was... except for laptop users. It turns out that this new update completely disables the "mute" key on a laptop when iTunes is running and not the current active window. Several threads of complaints have popped up at the iTunes discussion boards, with this one being the most popular:

Conclusion: iTunes needs to do better beta testing before releasing new software.
